LuM Lighting Design collaborated with architect and interior designer, GSC Architects, to design Advanced Micro Devices’ (AMD) 59-acre campus. Seeking to capture the essence of the Hill Country in progressive forms befitting a leading technology company, the design reflects a deep commitment to sustainability while providing AMD with an exceptional workplace benefiting both employees and the environment. The campus includes four four-story office buildings, three parking garages and the Lone Star building which features an employee fitness center, cafeteria, gourmet coffee bar, casual meeting space, outdoor decks and a gaming center with table tennis, billiards tables and video game consoles in addition to hike/bike trails throughout the scenic, hilly campus. While the buildings highlight solar specific facades, the most compelling design statement is the inverted roof form, replicated throughout the campus. Visually striking, the roof plays an important role in rainwater collection; a component of having achieved LEED Gold certification.  Lighting strategies included using energy efficient sources, daylight harvesting systems, automated lighting control systems and dark-sky compliant minimal site and façade lighting - all tactics important in achieving LEED Gold certification.
