Working with architect, CallisonRTKL, for the creation of a self-contained heart center adjacent to Baylor Healthcare System’s regional medical center, LuM Lighting Design focused on the experience that patients and visitors have when approaching the building and how the building is viewed from a distance. Sinuous landscape and water features connect the heart center to the adjacent hospital campus and parking structure. The sweeping entry canopy was washed with uplight creating a luminous welcoming element at the front of the building. Custom designed and fabricated glowing beacons of light, visible from nearby President George Bush Turkpike, top the building’s front façade becoming signature design elements of the hospital.
